Lads, Can you tell me how the cops react to escorts and their customers. A friend of mine in the US was stung by a cop posing as a escort. I would love to give it a bash but I am wary after his experience. Have you ever heard of Garda raids or do they just tolerate it in a sort of "out of sight, out of mind" manner.

The legal aspect of it is as long as there is only one escort in the property/room/car where ever there is nothing the Police can do you are entitled to give anyone you like money and no one can stop you, and thats from an escort.

emmm tamara thats incorrect - it is illegal for a punter to solicit sex - its not a term we use in Ireland but its called kerb crawling - an undercover cop can pose as an escort ona street or apartment and once the punter offers money it can be construed as soliciting for sex - of course as of yet no one has been charged with this. It is not illegal for a girl working on her own to operate as an escort but this is a very vague area. she may not be prosecuted for it but she could be charged with living off immoral earnings.

Unlike in the USA, a garda can NOT pose as street walker or an escort to try entice a punter to solicit their services, that is called 'Entrapment' which is illegal both here and in the UK. To my knowledge the only legal system that uses such tatics is the US system. Entrapment is illegal here, that is why you don't see the gardai posing a drug dealers or hookers.......if this tatic was available to the gardai there would be alot more arrests and tighter control on the street activity.

A premises is considered a brothel where there is more than one girl/guy plying there trade! For this reason that is why girls work from a flat on a rota basis. This seems to more the situation in the UK!
